Successful Adoption Stories
The
following is taken from an e-mail received by our Rescue
Coordinator:
Today has been a very sad, but wonderful day. My feelings are
mixed, and I had to share with someone ... so who better than
the list of knowledgeable dog handlers and trainers.
This little guy, that I picked up from the pound yesterday is a
new and welcome experience in my home. I have only once
before met a dog who was so worried about making a mistake.
This little dog, well ... you wouldn't even know there was
another dog in my house, honestly. He just lays
there under the table. The cat is the only who has really
realized we have an addition.
I talk to him and he snuggles up to be scratched under the chin.
Other than that, he goes right back to his little spot and curls
up and goes to sleep.
When Lorna had him at the pound she had to shave his rear and
tail because of matting. When I arrived to take him from
the pound it was quite apparent that he was a soft dog, one who
had been mistreated, and ... well, I don't even want to think
about what he's been through. It's over now.
But, how could anyone in their right mind be so cruel as to hurt
a dog who is trying so HARD to do everything right? People
... His eyes are so pleading.
When I took him outside, all he wanted to do was curl up beside
the house in the cold. I almost cried. My other dogs
are out there running around, (you could almost hear Gex say
"C'mon Bud! Let's go!!" But he wouldn't, he just tucked
his tail and curled up in the snow. Gex pleading, whining,
getting down on his front, wiggling .... nothing ... no
reaction. Where has the life gone in this little boy.
This is so sad. This wonderful little dog, who to me seems
pretty special in so many ways, almost didn't get rescued.
I can't imagine putting a dog like this down ....
We need more Rescue homes.
